Louis Lafair
I’ve designed multiple award-winning board games, simulated the future of AI for the Gates Foundation, led product teams at Asana, served as a National Student Poet, and guest lectured at Stanford.
Product Leader

I build 0→1 products at the startup studio Uncapped Potential.

I led AI Workflows as a Group Product Manager at Asana.

At Stanford, I studied Symbolic Systems, at the intersection of AI, data science, and the humanities.

I co-built PAI, an AI that we trained with reinforcement learning and that could beat me 3 out of 5 times at my own board game.
Game Designer

I design simulation games at the non-profit CAPTRS to help teams prepare for threats. My games have been played by the Gates Foundation executive leadership team, NASA, CDC, government leaders, emergency managers, and public health agencies across the country.

I invented Mapmaker: The Gerrymandering Game, which funded in its first 6 hours on Kickstarter thanks to 1,468 backers, including Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Writer & Speaker

I write middle grade fantasy and mystery novels. I’m represented by Ammi-Joan Paquette.

I guest lecture for Stanford’s CS 247G: Design for Play and CS 377G: Designing Serious Games.

I’ve presented at a TEDx conference, Stanford University graduation ceremony, SXSWedu, the Aspen Ideas Festival, National Book Festival, and other events across the country.

I’ve produced podcasts for State of the Human, including an interview with Carol Dweck on growth mindset.

Appointed by Michelle Obama, I served as a 2013-2014 National Student Poet. My writing has appeared on poets.org and in The Atlantic.
